Different Ages, Same Value: A Fresh Look at Ageism, Thursday, September 10, 6-7:00pm

Ageism is one of the most common—and often unnoticed—forms of bias. It affects people of every age, yet stereotypes about aging continue to shape our attitudes, interactions, and even the way we see ourselves.

In Different Ages, Same Value: A Fresh Look at Ageism, participants will explore how age-related assumptions influence everyday life and discover practical ways to recognize and challenge ageism in their communities, workplaces, and personal relationships. This engaging presentation offers a fresh perspective on aging and provides simple, actionable ideas for creating more inclusive, age-friendly environments where people of every generation are respected, valued, and able to thrive.

About the Presenter

Katherine Martin is the Associate Director for Public Policy and Outreach at the University of Vermont Center on Aging. Kate leads the Center's policy, community engagement, and outreach efforts, helping to advance healthy aging initiatives and improve the lives of older Vermonters and their families.

Kate works closely with state agencies, community organizations, healthcare providers, educators, and policymakers to address issues affecting older adults. She serves as Co-Chair of the Governor's Commission on Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders and is a member of the steering committee for Age Strong Vermont, the state's multi-sector plan on aging. She is also actively involved in several statewide initiatives focused on healthy aging and well-being, including the Palliative Care Task Force, the Tri-State Learning Collaborative on Aging, and the Falls Free Vermont Coalition.
