Vermont Civilian Conservation Corps Camps: History, Memories & Legacy, Wednesday, September 16, 11am-12:00pm

The Springfield Town Library will host author and historian Marty Podskoch for a presentation on his new book, Vermont Civilian Conservation Corps Camps: History, Memories & Legacy. Through historic photographs, maps, and personal stories, Podskoch explores the history of Vermont's 36 CCC camps and supply depots, where young men and World War I veterans helped build dams, state parks, forests, trails, roads, and other public works from 1933–1942.

After four years of research, including visits to every Vermont CCC camp site and interviews with families of former CCC members, Podskoch brings the legacy of the Civilian Conservation Corps to life. His presentation will also highlight local CCC camps and their lasting impact on Vermont's landscape.

Marty Podskoch is the author of numerous books on the Civilian Conservation Corps, fire towers, and regional history. Signed copies of his new book will be available for purchase following the presentation.
