Get a Library Card

Library cards are free for Springfield residents***, Springfield taxpayers, and students in Springfield schools. Just come in during library hours. We can give you a “new resident” card until you can provide proof of your street address (an ID, a piece of mail received at that address, or other documentation).

***Please note that some people whose mail is delivered out of the Springfield Post Office (and the addresses are listed as being in Springfield) are actually residents of other towns. If you are a tenant, please check with your landlord to verify where taxes are paid. We are sorry to say that if your landlord’s property is not taxed by Springfield, you are not eligible for a free library card.

Not a resident? It’s a bargain! $60/year or $30/six months.

OR you can very easily apply online using the links below. Expect to receive your card in the mail within a week during normal circumstances.
